My Rite Aid Trip 7-25-10

Pictured is what I got today at Rite Aid. Everything is the same as the scenario I posted earlier but instead of getting the One a Day Vitamins, I decided to get 2 packs of paper plates. Brad informed me that he has enough vitamins and I should get something else. Haha. The paper plates are 2 for $5 this week and I had a $1 off of 2 man. coupon. I also used the 2$ off of 2 video value coupon bringing these to $1.00 a piece.
My total before savings was $42.49
My total with savings and $5 in +UP rewards was $0.62. I put this on my gift card.
I received the following +UP rewards on my receipt...
$3.00 for the Colgate Total
$2.00 for the Rembrandt
$2.00 for the O.B. Tampons
$1.00 for the Nivea body wash
$1.00 for the Reach toothbrush
$1.00 for the Reach toothbrush (It printed 2 I guess because I got 2. The +UP rewards never worked like this before but I wasn't going to complain!)

Total of $10 in +UP rewards and I will also receive a $2.99 Single Check rebate for one of the toothbrushes. This brings my total profit to $7.37!!! :)

Rite Aid Deals beginning 7/25/10

Sunday, July 25th is the first day for the August video values on www.riteaid.com. From what I've read on some blogs, there will be some pretty decent coupons available. Also, July 25th is the first day for the August Single Check Rebates. I scoped this out and noticed that there is a really easy gift card to earn this month along with some other good rebates. The deal is you have to "buy" $25 worth of oral care products and you will earn a $10 Rite Aid gift card. If this seems like too much to "buy" they also have one where you spend $15 and earn a $5 gift card. Purchases need to be made beginning 7/25 through 9/25. I've noticed in the upcoming Rite Aid ads, however, it will be VERY easy to reach $25!

Here are the deals I spy followed by my project scenario...

-$3.00 +UP reward

Then I will use my $12 +UP rewards from last week to bring my total to around $0.46 which I will pay for with my $30 gift card I received for "purchasing" certain skin care items last month. I should receive in return $11.00 in +UP rewards and $2.99 Single check rebate. I also will have "spent" $16.47 towards my Oral Care Single check rebate.

My Stockpile :)

If there ever is a laundry emergency situtation...you know who to call. Haha.

No caption needed for this. Even I can admit that this is ridiculous.

This picture does not do this stockpile justice as the whole closet is basically stocked.

I have this portion of my stockpile organized by shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I ran out of room in the closet so the spare room floor will do for now. :)
Now, everyone that has said, "Amy, you must have so much stuff" can now totally appreciate how much I do have.
Hard to imagine that all of it was free or a few cents...

My Rite Aid Trip 7-18-10

I waited on purpose to post my deals for this week until I shopped. I have been reading about some changes to the +UP rewards program and wanted to test it for myself before reporting to you. I found shopping today that only one like +UP reward will print per Wellness + Card. In other words, you cannot buy the same item more than once and expect an +UP reward to print. Before you could purchase an item, earn the +UP reward and then return later to purchase the same item and earn the +UP reward again. This no longer is the case. These changes are very similar to how CVS does their Extra Care Bucks program.
My plan was to do two transactions to "test" my theory that only one +UP reward will print per item. You can see pictured above my two transactions.
I always look forward to Sundays because of the new deals that are available at all of the stores. When I walk into a Rite Aid it is like one huge scavenger hunt. So you can imagine my frustration when this happened this morning...
I know that my Rite Aid opens promptly at 10:00am on a Sunday. So as not to look too obsessed about this whole coupon thing, I try not to beat down their doors exactly at 10:00. I arrived today at 10:30am coupons in hand and a smile on my face. I immediately walk in to find HER with two carts filled with ALL of the sale items. This lady, also a crazy coupon lady, must arrive exactly at 1o:00 and run around the store wiping them clear of the product. She even brings baskets (from home, mind you!!!) to separate her transactions. Needless to say, I was irrate. I decided I would calmly go and check the shelves thinking that maybe she left behind just a few of them item but OF COURSE NOT. So, I returned my cart and off I went to another Rite Aid. During my drive I got to thinking...I really hope Rite Aid DID put limits on the +UP rewards this week because HER face would be priceless when she realizes her +UP rewards didn't print!!!
As a side note...one rule I try to follow when couponing is not to clear the shelves. I really try to take what I need to get my deal and then leave some for the rest. The other Rite Aid I visited luckily had a full stock of all of the products so I took what I needed and left the rest for others...
Sorry for that rant...here are my transaction details.
Transaction #1-
Fluffy fabric softener- $1.88
-$1.00 coupon from stockpile

My next saving adventure...

So with the time I've had off this summer I have been trying to explore even more ways of saving money. After reading many blogs and coupon websites, I have decided my next adventure will be rebates. Here is what I've found...

*P&G (the same people who make the coupon books) offer rebates a few times per year for purchasing their items. Usually it's a buy $$ and get $$ in return.

*Since the company is legit, the rebates always come (and you can track them as well).

*I am already"buying" half of the stuff on their rebate list anyhow.

*The rebate total is figured BEFORE coupons are taken. Meaning if I "purchase" a bottle of shampoo for $3.50 and end up getting it free with my coupons I can still count the $3.50 towards my rebate. (Wahooo!)

With this in mind...here is the link to the lastest rebate I am working towards http://www.olay.com/PublishingImages/offers/rebate/june302010/crossbrand/10_Olay.com.pdf

The deal is "spend" $30 and receive $10 back. The rebate lists the different kinds of products that will go towards the rebate. The best news is we have until September 17th to reach $30 and we can use multipe receipts.

Now some of you are probably thinking "that is an awful lot of work for $10" but in my eyes, $10 is $10!!!! If you are even considering doing this rebate PRINT IT NOW. Once they hit a certain number of prints, they take the rebate form down.

Anyone planning to do this? I know I can "purchase" a lot of this product at Rite Aid. In fact, I am "purchasing" Pantene next week :)

K-Mart and Rite Aid Shopping 7/5/10

Brad and I did some deal hunting today and visited K-Mart, Rite Aid, and CVS. We were exhausted afterwards and he was a little annoyed, but we got some awesome deals!
The first picture is what I got at K-Mart. They do double up to 5 coupons per day but Brad was a little impatient so we settled for 3 freebies. I had to pay just tax for all three items. The Gillette coupon was in this Sunday's paper for $2.00 off. The reach coupon and L.A. Looks coupons were in my stockpile. I hope you have them too!
The second picture is what I got at Rite Aid. Missing from this photo is Clairol Hair Dye, a case of water, and a 6-Pack of Boost nutritional drink. I purposely "purchased" items that would print an Up Reward. Brad also spotted a "Try Me Free" tag on the Organix Coconut Milk shampoo. We mailed in that rebate and should be reimbursed for the total of our purchase. Many of the bottles had tags on them so keep a look out. I basically broke even on the purchases from today and successfully "rolled" my Up Rewards (paid with Up rewards and got the same amount back).

Wahooo for K-Mart

I must tell you that I'm not much of a K-mart shopper. In fact, I usually only go there when they are having their double coupon events. We have had a dry spell here for the last few months but I'm so happy to announce that this week (beginning July 4th) K-mart will be doubling coupons valued up to $2.00!!!!

What you need to know...

1. You need a Shopper's Reward Card (free at customer service) and you need to scan it when checking out.

2. They will only double 5 coupons per card per day. From what I read, they are pretty strict about that and their computers are programmed to monitor this.

3. They will double coupons as high as $2.00 to $4.00!!!

4. There is no "overage" like Rite Aid. In other words, if you have an item that is $3.49 and you have a $2.00 coupon. The coupon will only double to the amount of that item making it free.

My game plan...

*Use high value coupons that will make items close to free after doubling.

*Return multiple times throughout the week to use 5 coupons each time.

I will be putting together a list of "good buys" after I scope it out on Sunday (Yes, I'm that lame and will shop on holidays). K-mart takes internet printable coupons so this should make for some excellent deals.

One last thing...I find K-mart's regular prices to be much higher than some other stores (much like Rite Aid's prices). Don't fall for their plan of getting you in the store so that you buy stuff. I always make it a point to purchase 5 items, use 5 coupons, and then return throughout the week. This is just my opinion, however.
