Although some may want to deny the fact that Christmas is about 3 months away, Brad and I have been scheming our shopping plans for a few months now. As many of you know, Brad and I shop throughout the year for our family and friends in order to get the best deals and spread out our spending. Last year it really cut down on the holiday stress and we were able to get some great gifts. Here are some tips we use when shopping for the people on our list. I hope you find this helpful!
1. Keep a list of gifts purchased for each person on your list. This prevents you from forgetting who you shopped for already and gives you an idea about what you still need to get.
2. Just because you purchase a gift on sale does NOT mean you are cheap. The person you are buying for does not know it was on sale only you do. Further getting something on sale does not mean that you should continue to shop for that person until you've "spent" enough. If that's the case, then just go find something full priced!! :) See how silly that seems?
3. Keep a look out for gifts for that "tough" person on your list. I know in the past I have had trouble searching for a gift at the last minute for a few people on my list. So, plan ahead and shop ahead.
4. MANY of the "deals" stores run around Christmastime are not deals at all!!! Be a savvy shopper and know the prices of things you are going to buy. Just because the store says they are a good deal doesn't mean they always are.
5. Finally, space out your spending throughout the year so that your bank account does not take such a huge hit around the holidays. You will feel good about getting good deals throughout the year! At least, we do!
I hope you've found this post at least a bit helpful. We've really enjoyed shopping all year for Christmas. Without the stress of shopping and spending around the holidays we can truly appreciate the REAL reason for Christmas!
